Uttarakhand Doctors' Strike Persists as Interns Demand Higher Stipends

The strike by doctors in Uttarakhand entered another day as MBBS interns and postgraduate residents maintained their protest over stipend demands. Interns stated that the current stipend is insufficient to cover basic living expenses and demanded an increase to Rs 30,000. PG residents joined the agitation, asserting that their stipend should be raised to Rs 1 lakh to reflect their workload and responsibilities. Hospital administrations have yet to issue a formal response, while officials from the state health department said they are reviewing the demands. The ongoing strike has affected outpatient services in several government medical colleges across the state, prompting concerns about patient care.
