The Uttarakhand Election Commission has pushed back the publication of the final voter list to October 3, with 239,000 pending claims still under review.
The Uttarakhand State Election Commission announced that the release of the final electoral roll has been postponed to October 3. The decision comes after the commission identified 2.39 lakh applications for inclusion, deletion or correction that remain unresolved.
Officials said the pending claims involve a mix of new registrations, address changes and removal requests, and the commission is undertaking a detailed verification to ensure accuracy before the roll is finalized.
The postponement aims to give sufficient time for field officers to examine each claim, thereby reducing the risk of errors that could affect upcoming elections. Voters are advised to check the updated roll once it is published on the commission’s website.
Election authorities have reiterated that the revised timeline will not impact the schedule of the state’s forthcoming polls, but they urge citizens to submit any further corrections promptly.
