The state government has exempted the mythological drama 'Hanuman Ansh' from entertainment tax, a move that could lift its earnings in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand’s finance department announced that the upcoming mythological feature 'Hanuman Ansh' will be released without the usual entertainment tax. The exemption applies to all theatres across the state from the film’s release date.

Industry analysts say that a tax‑free status reduces ticket prices for audiences and improves net collections for producers, especially in a market where regional films compete with big‑budget Hindi releases. The move is expected to encourage higher footfall in smaller towns and hill‑station cinemas.

The decision aligns with Uttarakhand’s recent policy of granting tax relief to films that promote cultural heritage or have a strong regional connection. 'Hanuman Ansh', which draws on Hindu mythology, fits that criterion, and officials hope the incentive will also boost tourism to related sites.

Box‑office projections suggest the film could see a 10‑15% rise in revenue in the state compared with a taxed release, though final figures will depend on audience response.

The tax‑free status will be reflected in ticket pricing from the first day of screening, and cinema owners have been instructed to update their systems accordingly.
