Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Dhami has accused the Congress party of engaging in caste politics over the recent cleaning of the Haldwani Ramlila ground, calling the move a political stunt.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Dhami, accused the Congress party of using caste politics to influence the recent cleaning of the Haldwani Ramlila ground during a press conference held in the state capital.

Dhami said the Congress had leveraged caste identities to gain support for the ground’s ‘purification’ drive, labeling it a political stunt aimed at swaying voters ahead of upcoming elections.

The Congress leadership denied the allegations, stating that the cleaning was a community service initiative and that the party had no political motive behind it.

The incident has added to the growing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition as both sides prepare for the next assembly elections.
