A Jagran Josh report identifies five districts in Uttar Pradesh with the lowest literacy rates, underscoring persistent educational hurdles across the state.

Jagran Josh’s latest analysis points out that five districts in Uttar Pradesh lag behind the state’s average in terms of literacy. The report lists these districts as the most underperforming in educational attainment, with literacy rates falling well below the national average.

The findings highlight a stark disparity in access to schooling and learning resources. In many of these districts, schools are understaffed, and infrastructure is often inadequate, which hampers effective teaching and learning.

Socio‑economic factors also play a role. High poverty levels, limited parental education, and migration for work contribute to lower enrollment and higher dropout rates among children.

The state government has announced several initiatives aimed at boosting enrollment and improving teacher training, but the report suggests that more targeted interventions are needed to close the literacy gap in these regions.
