Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Uttar Pradesh has moved to the fifth position among Indian states in total exports, with the carpet industry of Bhadohi accounting for a substantial share.
The Uttar Pradesh government told reporters that the state now ranks fifth among all Indian states in overall export value, according to the latest trade figures released by the Ministry of Commerce. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the role of the Bhadohi carpet sector, noting that the region's hand‑woven rugs have become a key driver of the state's export growth.
Bhadohi, often referred to as the "Carpet City," houses thousands of artisans who produce a wide range of woven and embroidered floor coverings. Their products are shipped to markets in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, contributing a sizable portion of Uttar Pradesh's foreign‑exchange earnings.
The CM said the administration will continue to support the carpet makers through skill‑development programmes, improved logistics and better access to international buyers, aiming to sustain the upward export trajectory.
The announcement was reported by Daily Excelsior, which cited the chief minister's remarks during a press conference on the state's economic performance.
Industry observers expect that the focus on Bhadohi's carpet industry could further enhance Uttar Pradesh's standing in India's export landscape.
