Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath transferred Rs 148 crore to 4.6 lakh students and said the state aims to extend the benefit to 70 lakh learners.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state government has disbursed Rs 148 crore directly to the bank accounts of 4.6 lakh students as part of its financial assistance programme.
The transfer is intended to ease the cost burden on students pursuing higher education, covering tuition, books and related expenses.
In his statement, the CM highlighted that the current disbursement is a stepping stone toward a broader target of reaching 70 lakh students across the state, signalling an expanded commitment to educational support.
The move aligns with Uttar Pradesh's ongoing efforts to improve enrollment and retention rates in colleges and universities, especially among economically weaker sections.
State officials said the funds will be credited within the next few days and that the scheme will continue to be monitored for timely delivery to beneficiaries.
