The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has cleared a state‑wide smart school programme covering 14,429 government schools, aiming to upgrade infrastructure and digital learning.
During a recent cabinet meeting, the Uttar Pradesh government gave formal approval to a smart school initiative that will be implemented in 14,429 government schools across the state. The scheme is designed to modernise classrooms by installing digital teaching aids, high‑speed internet connectivity and interactive learning tools.
The programme envisions the deployment of smart boards, audio‑visual equipment and computer labs, coupled with teacher‑training modules to ensure effective use of the new technology. Funding for the project will be drawn from the state education budget, with implementation slated to begin in the upcoming academic session.
State officials expect the upgrade to enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes and narrow the digital divide in rural and urban areas alike. Monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to track progress and ensure that the infrastructure meets prescribed standards.
