The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a package of financial incentives aimed at encouraging dairy processing units and milk‑product manufacturers in the state.

New Delhi – The Uttar Pradesh administration has introduced a set of incentives designed to stimulate investment in dairy processing and the production of milk‑based products. The scheme, announced by the state’s agriculture department, seeks to increase value‑addition in the dairy sector, create employment opportunities and improve farm‑gate prices for milk producers.

Under the initiative, eligible entrepreneurs and existing processors can access financial support that may include subsidies, concessional credit and tax relief, though exact parameters will be detailed in forthcoming guidelines. Officials said the measures are intended to attract both small‑scale and large‑scale players to set up modern processing facilities across the state.

The government expects the incentives to boost the state's contribution to India's dairy output, which already ranks among the world’s largest. By encouraging higher‑value milk products such as cheese, yoghurt and flavored milk, the policy aims to diversify farmer incomes and reduce reliance on raw milk sales.

State officials have urged interested parties to submit proposals through the designated online portal, with the first round of approvals expected to be processed within the next few weeks. The initiative aligns with broader national goals of enhancing dairy value chains and achieving self‑sufficiency in nutrition.

The announcement comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to leverage its large livestock base, which accounts for a significant share of the country's milk production, to drive economic growth in rural areas.
