The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a Rs 21 crore package for 508 farmer families in Etawah district under its welfare scheme.
The Uttar Pradesh administration has sanctioned a financial assistance package worth Rs 21 crore for 508 farmer families in Etawah district. The funds are being released under a state‑run welfare scheme aimed at bolstering the income of small and marginal cultivators.
The scheme targets households that cultivate less than two hectares of land and have been identified as vulnerable due to fluctuating market prices and erratic monsoons. By providing direct cash support, the government hopes to enable these families to meet agricultural input costs, repay loans and invest in better farming practices.
Implementation will be overseen by the district agriculture department, which will disburse the amount through bank transfers to the beneficiaries’ accounts. The rollout is scheduled to begin next week, with the entire allocation expected to be exhausted within a few months.
State officials said the assistance forms part of a broader effort to strengthen the agrarian sector in Uttar Pradesh, which contributes significantly to the state’s economy. The move follows similar schemes in other districts aimed at reducing farmer distress and enhancing rural livelihoods.
