The US has sanctioned Shanghai Zhisuan Technology and MiraclePlus following the conviction of Ding Linwei for stealing over 2,000 confidential AI documents from Google.
The United States government has imposed sanctions on two Chinese entities, Shanghai Zhisuan Technology and MiraclePlus, in response to a significant case of intellectual property theft. This regulatory action follows the conviction of Ding Linwei, an engineer found guilty of stealing vital artificial intelligence trade secrets from Google.
According to the case details, Linwei transferred more than 2,000 confidential documents to Chinese firms, causing substantial harm to Google's proprietary AI research. The US authorities have identified these companies as the primary beneficiaries of the stolen technology.
MiraclePlus, which provided financial backing to Zhisuan's startup initiatives, is also under scrutiny. The firm was co-founded by Lu Qi, who previously served as the head of Y Combinator's China division. The sanctions aim to deter further theft of critical technology and protect national security interests in the AI sector.
