US Ambassador Sergio Gor Meets Manipur CM and Governor to Boost Economic Ties

U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor held talks with Manipur’s chief minister and governor, focusing on strengthening trade and investment links between the United States and the state.
New Delhi – U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor visited Imphal to meet Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Governor Anusuiya Uikey. The three officials exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade, attracting American investment in sectors such as tourism, agro‑processing and information technology, and facilitating easier market access for Manipur’s products.
During the meeting, Ambassador Gor highlighted the United States’ interest in supporting the North‑East’s development agenda under the Indo‑U.S. strategic partnership. He offered technical assistance and indicated potential participation of U.S. businesses in upcoming state‑level projects.
Both the chief minister and the governor welcomed the dialogue, stating that deeper economic engagement with the United States could generate jobs and boost the region’s growth. They agreed to set up a joint working group to identify concrete opportunities and to organise a trade delegation visit later this year.
The talks are part of a broader diplomatic outreach by Washington aimed at strengthening ties with Indian states that hold strategic and economic significance.
