The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority has introduced a rule requiring developers to submit digital certificates from architects, engineers and chartered accountants.
The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has issued a new regulation that obliges real estate developers and agents to provide digitally signed certificates from qualified architects, engineers and chartered accountants before marketing or selling projects. The rule aims to enhance transparency and curb fraudulent practices in the state's booming property market. Under the directive, each certificate must be generated on a secure digital platform and linked to the project's registration details on the RERA portal. Non‑compliance could result in penalties, suspension of project approvals or other enforcement actions, officials said. Industry observers expect the measure to increase due diligence among builders and give buyers greater confidence in the authenticity of project documentation.
