Divya Mittal, a former IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh and IIT–IIM alumnus, has resigned after being sidelined for four months. Her husband, also an IAS officer, had earlier stepped down.

Divya Mittal, a senior officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has tendered her resignation from the Indian Administrative Service after a four‑month period of sidelining. The move follows a series of administrative delays that left her without a posting or active responsibilities.

Mittal, who holds degrees from IIT and IIM, had been reassigned to a non‑operational role in the state government before her resignation was announced. Sources say the sidelining began in late 2023 and continued into early 2024, prompting her to seek a fresh start.

Her husband, who also serves as an IAS officer, had resigned earlier this year, citing similar concerns about career stagnation. The couple’s departures have drawn attention to the challenges faced by civil servants in Uttar Pradesh.

The state government has not yet released an official statement regarding Mittal’s resignation. Analysts suggest that the case may prompt a review of posting policies for senior officers in the state.
