Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted that historically neglected border regions will now receive focused development efforts.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that the Indian government is shifting its focus to the development of border areas that have long been overlooked. He emphasized that neglect of infrastructure, connectivity and livelihood facilities in these regions has hampered both security and local prosperity.

Rijiju said a comprehensive plan is being drafted to upgrade roads, schools, hospitals and digital connectivity along the frontiers. The aim is to integrate border communities more closely with the national mainstream while strengthening India's strategic posture.

The minister assured that budget allocations for the upcoming fiscal year will reflect this new priority, and that coordination between defence, ministries of rural development and state governments will be intensified to ensure swift implementation.
