Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the need to merge skill development programmes with the mainstream education system, stating that the two should complement each other to produce a more job‑ready workforce. He made the remarks during a recent public address on the government's skill initiatives.
Pradhan pointed out that while formal education builds foundational knowledge, skill training equips students with practical abilities required by industry. He urged educational institutions to redesign curricula so that vocational training and academic learning are delivered together rather than in isolation.
The minister indicated that the Ministry of Education will work with the Ministry of Skill Development to formulate guidelines that promote this integrated approach, aiming to roll out pilot projects across several states in the coming months.
