Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated two new railway sections totaling 118 km, creating a direct rail link for Sidhi district.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, accompanied by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, officially opened two railway sections that together span 118 kilometres. The new stretch extends rail connectivity to Sidhi district, a region that previously relied on limited train services.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the rail yard in Sidhi, where officials highlighted the project's role in boosting local commerce and improving passenger travel options. Both leaders emphasized that the enhanced network will facilitate smoother movement of goods, especially agricultural produce, to larger markets.
The sections were completed under the central government's rail expansion programme, aiming to bridge connectivity gaps in central India. Railway officials indicated that regular passenger trains are expected to commence operations on the new line within the next few weeks, further integrating Sidhi with the national rail grid.
Local residents and business owners gathered to witness the event, expressing optimism that the improved rail link will attract investment and create employment opportunities in the district.
The project reflects ongoing efforts by the Union Ministry of Railways and the state government to upgrade infrastructure in underserved regions, aligning with broader economic development goals for Madhya Pradesh.
