UN chief urges nations to back UN80 Initiative for sustainable development

Speaking at a recent UN gathering, Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres urged all member states to support and carry forward the UN80 Initiative. The UN80 Initiative, launched to mark the organization’s eight decades, aims to galvanise global action toward the Sustainable Development Goals. Guterres emphasized the need for political commitment, adequate financing and partnership across sectors to keep the momentum alive. He invited governments to integrate the programme into national policies and to report on progress regularly.
