Ujjain: Video Shows Self-Proclaimed Aghori Woman Removing Meat from Burning Pyre, Saints Demand Police Action

A video circulating on social media shows a woman, who identifies herself as the Mahamandaleshwar of an Aghori and transgender akhada, extracting meat from a burning funeral pyre at a cremation ghat in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The footage captures her allegedly consuming the meat, a practice that contravenes traditional Hindu funeral rites.

The clip has sparked strong condemnation from the broader saint community, who consider the act sacrilegious and a violation of religious norms. Representatives of various Hindu monastic orders have publicly demanded that law enforcement investigate the incident and take appropriate action against those involved.

The Aghori akhada to which the woman claims affiliation has also called for police involvement, stating that the matter requires a thorough inquiry to uphold the sanctity of cremation practices. Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement, but the growing public outcry suggests that a formal response may be forthcoming.
