Ujjain will stage a three‑day Dussehra celebration featuring multiple Ravana burnings, a 101‑foot waterproof effigy and a royal Baba Mahakal procession that will be showered with 500 kg of flowers from drones.
Ujjain, a historic city in Madhya Pradesh, has announced an elaborate three‑day Dussehra programme that will unfold across several venues. The highlight will be a 101‑foot tall, water‑proof Ravana effigy set for a grand burning ceremony, a visual attraction expected to draw large crowds.
In addition to the traditional effigy, the city will stage a ceremonial procession of Baba Mahakal, the revered deity of the region. The procession will be embellished with a spectacular floral display, as drones release approximately 500 kilograms of flowers over the Dussehra Maidan, creating a colourful rain of blossoms.
Organisers said the events aim to blend age‑old customs with modern technology, offering devotees a memorable experience while adhering to safety norms. The schedule runs for three consecutive days, with each day featuring distinct rituals and performances at designated locations throughout the city.
Authorities have coordinated with local police and fire services to ensure crowd management and emergency preparedness. The celebrations are open to the public, and officials expect a significant turnout from both residents and visitors.
The fusion of tradition and innovation underscores Ujjain's commitment to preserving cultural heritage while embracing contemporary spectacle for the festive season.
