Ujjain Temple Hosts Early Morning Bhang‑Adorned Bhakti Ritual on Bhadrpada Shukla Dwitiya

At 4 a.m. on Bhadrpada Shukla Dwitiya, devotees performed a bhang‑adorned bhakti ritual at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, adorning the deity with a silver crown, mung mala, rudraksha and flowers.
On the second day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrpada, a dawn‑time ceremony was held at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. The ritual began at 4 a.m., with a bhang‑based bhakti offering to the deity.
The priests performed a Panchamrit abhishek and then adorned the idol with a silver crown, a mung mala, rudraksha beads, tripe, trinetra, and an array of fresh flowers. The entire process was accompanied by the chanting of ‘Jai Shri Mahakaleshwar’.
Such rituals are part of the temple’s annual calendar, attracting thousands of devotees who seek blessings before the day’s main worship. The use of bhang in the ceremony is a traditional practice believed to invoke divine grace.
Local authorities noted that the event was well‑organized, with security and crowd management measures in place to accommodate the large number of pilgrims.
