The Udaipur municipal corporation election sees 220 candidates contesting across the city, with direct BJP‑Congress battles in 39 wards and three‑way contests in 41 wards.

The municipal corporation election in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has drawn a total of 220 candidates vying for seats across the city's 80 wards. The large field reflects heightened local interest as parties and independents prepare to contest the urban governance mandate.

Among the wards, 39 will witness a direct face‑off between the two major national parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. In these constituencies, voters will choose between the two traditional rivals without any third‑party split.

The remaining 41 wards are set for triangular contests, where candidates from BJP, Congress and a third contender—often an independent or a regional outfit—will split the vote. Such three‑cornered fights can lead to unpredictable outcomes and may affect overall control of the corporation.

Election officials have confirmed the candidate list and the ward-wise contest format, but final results will be announced after voting concludes. The composition of the Udaipur municipal body will determine local policy direction on infrastructure, sanitation and civic services for the coming term.
