On October 2, two youths from Gadhara village drowned in the Ganga at Simariya Bhola Ghat in Begusarai. After eight days with no trace of their bodies, relatives performed last rites using effigies.
The incident occurred on October 2 at Simariya Bhola Ghat, located in the Barouni block of Begusarai district. Ankit Kumar, aged 20, and Shivam Kumar, aged 19, both residents of Gadhara village, were reported to have drowned while bathing in the Ganga.
Despite search efforts, no trace of the youths was found even after eight days. Authorities and local volunteers continued to look for any sign, but the river yielded no clues about their whereabouts.
In the absence of recovered bodies, the families decided to perform the last rites symbolically. They created effigies representing the two youths and carried out the cremation rituals at the ghat.
