Two Locomotives Collide During Shunting at Jamalpur Loco Shed, One Derails

Jamalpur locomotive shed in Bihar witnessed a shunting mishap when two diesel locomotives approached each other on the same track from opposite directions and collided head‑on. The impact forced one of the engines to leave the rails, creating a visible derailment and damaging a section of the track. Railway officials said the locomotives were moving at a relatively low speed, which prevented the collision from escalating into a major catastrophe. The incident disrupted operations at the shed, and safety crews were dispatched to secure the site and clear the derailed engine. An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the lapse and to recommend corrective measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
