Subedar Ramesh Chand and Lieutenant Vikram Singh, both hailing from Churi village in Kotpootli, concluded their military careers on 31 August after serving together for nearly three decades. The two officers had first joined the Indian Army together around 28 years ago, sharing the same uniform as a junior officer and a senior non‑commissioned officer.

The joint farewell underscores the deep bond forged over years of service and the respect accorded to defence personnel in rural Rajasthan. While the soldiers now step into civilian life, the village’s celebration highlighted the lasting impact of their dedication on the local populace.
