A sudden collapse of an old building in Gali Sitara, Old Delhi, near Sheesh Mahal has claimed two lives and injured a construction worker, with rescue teams still on site.
An old structure in Gali Sitara, a narrow lane close to the historic Sheesh Mahal in Old Delhi, gave way abruptly, sending debris crashing onto the street. The collapse was reported by local residents who heard a loud crash and saw the building tumble.
Preliminary reports confirm that two individuals have died as a result of the incident. A construction worker who was on the site at the time sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Emergency services, including fire‑brigade teams and police, arrived quickly and have been conducting rescue and recovery operations throughout the day. Teams are using cutting equipment to clear rubble and are searching for any additional victims.
