Two Kashmiri Students Threatened to Vacate Bhopal Home, DGP Orders Probe

Two Jammu‑Kashmir students studying under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme in Bhopal were allegedly threatened to vacate their rented house because of their Kashmiri identity, prompting the DGP to order interrogation of the suspects.
Bhopal police received a complaint that two students from Jammu and Kashmir, enrolled in the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme, were approached by unknown individuals who demanded they leave their rented accommodation, citing their Kashmiri background. The alleged intimidation took place in a residential area of the city and was reported to the local police station.
The Directorate General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh intervened after the complaint, directing senior officers to identify and question the persons who issued the threat. The DGP’s order emphasized that any act of intimidation based on ethnicity will be treated as a serious offense.
Police officials have begun preliminary inquiries, collecting statements from the students and any witnesses. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
No arrests have been reported so far, and the students have been advised to cooperate with the investigation while their safety is being ensured.
