Two independent candidates who won over JD(U) in the recent Bihar Legislative Council polls have announced their entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Earlier this week, two candidates who contested the Bihar Legislative Council elections as independents and succeeded in defeating the Janata Dal (United) secured seats, announced that they have formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Their decision was conveyed through a joint press statement and was later confirmed at a BJP office in Patna.

The two victors had campaigned on local issues and positioned themselves against the JD(U) establishment, which made their win a notable setback for the party in the upper house of the state legislature. Their shift to the BJP now adds to the ruling coalition's numbers and could strengthen its legislative agenda.

BJP leaders welcomed the newcomers, highlighting the move as evidence of the party's growing appeal in Bihar. Senior party officials said the independents' experience and grassroots connect would be valuable assets ahead of upcoming elections.

Political analysts note that the defections may further weaken JD(U)'s influence in the council and could reshape alliance dynamics ahead of the next state assembly polls.
