Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul and Khargone districts busted two gangs involved in stealing electricity wires and mobile‑tower cables, arresting four suspects from each district.
The police of Madhya Pradesh announced that coordinated raids in the Betul and Khargone districts have led to the arrest of eight individuals suspected of cable theft. Four accused were taken into custody in each district after investigators traced the illegal removal of high‑voltage power lines and fiber cables from mobile towers.
Authorities said the stolen materials are often sold on the black market, causing power outages and disruption to telecom services in the affected areas. The operation was carried out after a series of complaints from local residents and utility companies about repeated outages.
Senior police officials confirmed that the suspects belong to two separate gangs that specialize in pilfering metal components from infrastructure. The arrests are expected to deter further thefts and restore reliable electricity and mobile connectivity for the communities.
