Two teenage cousins were found dead after drowning in the Jhilmil River at Chitawali village in Bhind district, leaving both families without a male heir.

The bodies of two teenage boys, who were cousins, were recovered from the Jhilmil River in Chitawali village, part of the Bhaaroli police jurisdiction in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh. Local authorities confirmed that the youths went missing while playing near the river and were later found submerged.

Both victims were the only sons in their respective families, a fact that has deepened the grief in the close‑knit community. Villagers gathered at the site after the recovery, expressing shock and sorrow over the loss of the young men who were considered future heads of their households.

Police have launched a routine investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the drowning, but no foul play is suspected. The incident underscores the hazards of unsupervised water activities in rural areas, prompting local officials to consider awareness campaigns on river safety.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the families, and a period of mourning has been declared in the village. Community leaders have pledged support to the bereaved families during this difficult time.
