Two College Students Missing for Eight Months Found in Bangalore, CID Arrests Them

Two college students from Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore, who disappeared on Jan 31 have been located after CID traced a new SIM card linked to one of them; one is pregnant and both will appear before the High Court.
Two college students who went missing eight months ago were located by the CID after a successful operation that traced a newly purchased SIM card. Tanishka, a second‑year PUC student, and Tejaswini, a first‑year PUC student, vanished on Jan 31 when they told their families they were heading to college. Their disappearance was reported at the Vidyaranyapura police station, but no substantial leads emerged until the High Court transferred the case to the CID.
Initial investigations revealed that the girls had traveled to the Male Mahadeshwara Hills, where they were seen playing with a child whose mother took a selfie with them. While in the hills they encountered a young man from Kanakapura. Tanishka, fearing family pressure, falsely claimed that the two were orphaned siblings, a story the young man accepted and subsequently took them under his care.
According to CID findings, the young man was already married to Tanishka and kept Tejaswini in his home as a sister. The pair remained with him for several months. Recently, Tanishka purchased a new SIM card using her Aadhaar number. The CID had been monitoring that Aadhaar profile, and the telecom service provider promptly supplied the location data to investigators.
Using the Aadhaar‑linked SIM information and network‑location tracking, CID officers pinpointed the exact location where the girls were being held and apprehended them. Tanishka is currently pregnant. Both women have been taken into custody and are scheduled to appear before the High Court today.
