Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released two cheetahs today at Veerangana Durgawati Tiger Reserve, marking Madhya Pradesh's third cheetah reintroduction site after Kuno and Gandhi Sagar.

Madhya Pradesh's wildlife authorities inaugurated the state's third cheetah reintroduction location today. At Veerangana Durgawati Tiger Reserve, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav personally released two cheetahs that have been acclimatized in a pre‑release enclosure.
The release follows earlier successful introductions at Kuno and Gandhi Sagar, expanding the state's effort to restore the endangered species and boost wildlife tourism in the Bundelkhand region.
Officials said the cheetahs will be closely monitored using GPS collars to track their movements and health, ensuring they adapt to the semi‑arid grasslands of the reserve.
The initiative is part of a broader conservation program aimed at creating a viable cheetah population in central India, with hopes that the new site will attract tourists and generate local employment.
State forest officials emphasized that community involvement and anti‑poaching measures will be critical to the long‑term success of the project.
