Two teachers from Bihar have been conferred a national award in recognition of their pioneering classroom techniques.

New Delhi – The Government of India has presented a national honour to two teachers from Bihar for introducing innovative teaching practices that have drawn attention across the education sector. The award, announced by the Ministry of Education, acknowledges their efforts to make learning more interactive and relevant to students in rural and urban schools alike.

The educators, both women, have been credited with shifting from conventional rote methods to student‑centred approaches, incorporating local contexts, visual aids and community projects to deepen understanding. Their initiatives have reportedly improved attendance and academic performance in the schools where they work, prompting other institutions to adopt similar models.

Education officials said the recognition underscores the importance of grassroots innovation in raising the quality of schooling in Bihar, a state striving to improve its literacy and learning outcomes. The awardees are expected to share their methodologies at upcoming national teacher‑training workshops, fostering wider replication of successful practices.
