The Odisha Vigilance Department arrested two auditors, confiscating more than ₹14 lakh in alleged bribe money and sending them to jail.
Earlier this week, the Odisha Vigilance Department detained two auditors on suspicion of accepting bribes. The officials were taken into custody at a police station in the state and subsequently placed in jail pending further investigation.
During the raid, investigators recovered cash exceeding ₹14 lakh, which they allege was part of the illicit payment. The seized money was handed over to the state’s anti‑corruption cell for forensic examination.
Vigilance officials said the arrests are part of a broader crackdown on financial misconduct in public and private sector audits. They added that the case will be prosecuted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the auditors could face severe penalties if convicted.
The incident highlights growing concerns over audit integrity in Odisha and reinforces the department’s commitment to root out corruption within financial oversight mechanisms.
