Thane police confiscated mephedrone drugs valued at ₹11.6 million and detained two suspects in a raid on Tuesday.
Thane police carried out a raid on Tuesday that resulted in the seizure of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant, estimated to be worth around ₹11.6 million. The operation, conducted by the city’s drug enforcement unit, uncovered the narcotics hidden in a vehicle parked near a residential area.
During the same raid, two individuals were taken into custody for possession of the illegal substance. Investigating officers said the suspects were identified through a tip-off and were apprehended without incident.
The seized quantity of mephedrone is among the larger drug busts reported in Maharashtra this year, underscoring the state’s ongoing crackdown on synthetic drug trafficking. The two detainees will appear before the Thane Sessions Court for further legal proceedings.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the arrested persons, citing standard investigative protocols. The case is being handled under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and officials indicated that additional arrests could follow as the investigation expands.
