Police in Dhamnod, Dhar district, have arrested two suspects in the axe‑murder of Banshilal Chauhan, whose body was discovered in the Kakra river. The killing is believed to stem from a long‑standing personal feud.
The Dhamnod police station in Dhar district announced the arrest of two individuals suspected of killing Banshilal Chauhan. Chauhan's body was recovered from the Kakra river after locals reported a floating corpse earlier this week.
Investigators say the murder was carried out with an axe, a detail that emerged from forensic examination of the wounds. According to police, the motive appears to be an old personal rivalry between the victim and the accused, though the exact nature of the dispute has not been disclosed.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and are being held for further questioning. The case has been registered under sections relating to homicide and weapon use, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to establish the full sequence of events leading to the fatal attack.
The police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could help reconstruct the timeline of the crime, emphasizing that the community’s cooperation is essential for a swift resolution.
