Tumkur City Development Department Unveils Master Plan to Repurpose Abandoned Bus Station into Commercial Transport Hub
The Karnataka government’s City Development Department has drafted a master plan to transform the long‑vacant old bus station in Tumkur into a mixed‑use commercial and transport hub aimed at serving the public.
The City Development Department of Tumkur has released a master plan to convert the abandoned old bus station into a new commercial and transport hub. The plan aims to make the site useful for the public by integrating commercial spaces with improved transport facilities.
Under the master plan, the former bus station area will be redeveloped to include retail outlets, office spaces, and a modern transport interchange. The project is intended to enhance connectivity for residents and create new economic opportunities in the city.
The redevelopment is expected to revitalize the surrounding neighbourhood, improve traffic flow, and generate employment through construction and subsequent commercial activities.
The department has outlined a phased implementation schedule, with the first phase targeting infrastructure upgrades and the second phase focusing on commercial development. Approval from relevant authorities will be sought before construction commences.
