A truck lost control on the Zojila mountain pass, veered off the highway and plunged into a nearby stream, officials said.
Zojila, a high‑altitude pass in Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed a vehicular mishap on which a truck slipped off the main road and rolled into a nallah flowing alongside the highway. Local police and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
The accident caused a temporary blockage of traffic on the crucial Srinagar‑Leh route, prompting authorities to divert vehicles and secure the area. Officials are assessing the damage to the vehicle and the surrounding road infrastructure.
As of now, no official statement has been released regarding injuries or fatalities. The police have opened an inquiry to determine the exact cause, citing factors such as road conditions and driver vigilance.
The stretch of the pass is expected to be cleared once the wreckage is removed, after which normal traffic flow will resume.
