Tripura University in Agartala has launched an Indian Knowledge System Corner aimed at preserving and promoting the region’s traditional knowledge.
Tripura University in Agartala inaugurated a dedicated Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Corner on its campus, signalling a formal step to foreground indigenous and traditional knowledge. The corner is designed as a resource hub where students, researchers and the public can access texts, artifacts and digital material related to the cultural heritage of the Northeast.
University officials said the initiative aligns with a broader national agenda to integrate the Indian Knowledge System into higher‑education curricula. By showcasing local practices, folk science and historical scholarship, the university hopes to foster a deeper appreciation of regional wisdom among young scholars.
The IKS Corner will host periodic seminars, workshops and exhibitions featuring experts from tribal communities and academic departments. Organisers expect the space to become a focal point for interdisciplinary research and for preserving intangible cultural assets that risk fading away.
Stakeholders anticipate that the corner will also encourage collaborations with other institutions seeking to embed traditional knowledge within modern scientific discourse, thereby strengthening Tripura’s role as a custodian of the Northeast’s heritage.
