Tripura Railway Police confiscated 11.56 kg of cannabis worth ₹2.5 lakh at Agartala Railway Station, arresting one suspected drug peddler.

In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Tripura Railway Police seized 11.56 kg of cannabis at Agartala Railway Station on Thursday. The seized material was valued at approximately ₹2.5 lakh. Police investigators arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the distribution of the drug.

The operation was carried out during routine checks at the station’s cargo area. Authorities say the seized quantity is one of the largest drug seizures in the state’s recent history.

The arrested individual is currently in custody and is expected to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police officials have urged commuters to report any suspicious activity at railway premises.

The incident underscores the ongoing efforts by state law‑enforcement agencies to curb drug smuggling via rail networks.

Further investigations are underway to trace the source and distribution network of the seized cannabis.
