Tripura health minister Sudhangshu Das appealed to healthy people to give blood on a regular basis, citing a chronic shortage in the state’s blood banks.

Tripura health minister Sudhangshu Das on Monday urged all medically fit residents to donate blood regularly, stressing that a steady supply is vital for hospitals and emergency care across the state. He pointed out that many district blood banks face chronic shortages, which become acute during natural calamities and surgical emergencies. The minister announced that the state government will roll out a series of awareness drives, partner with NGOs and set up mobile donation camps in remote areas to make the process convenient. Das also reminded potential donors to undergo a basic health check before donating, assuring them that the procedure is safe and well‑monitored. The appeal comes ahead of the monsoon season, when demand for blood typically spikes due to injuries and disease outbreaks.
