Tripura launches app‑based cab, auto services and metaverse tourism at entry points

The state administration of Tripura announced the rollout of a digital transportation network that will allow commuters to book cabs and auto‑rickshaws through a dedicated mobile application. The service is being launched at the state's key entry points, including border crossings and major highway junctions, to streamline last‑mile connectivity for travelers and residents.

In parallel, the government unveiled a metaverse tourism initiative that offers virtual tours of Tripura's cultural and natural attractions. Users can explore heritage sites, wildlife sanctuaries and local festivals in an immersive 3‑D environment, aiming to boost interest in the state’s tourism offerings.

Officials said the dual launch is part of a broader digital‑first strategy to modernise transport infrastructure and promote Tripura as a forward‑looking destination. The app will integrate real‑time vehicle tracking, cashless payments and multilingual support, while the metaverse platform will be regularly updated with new content.

The pilot phase will run for three months, after which performance data will be reviewed to expand services to additional locations across the state.
