The Tripura government announced a Rs 300 increase in the festival grant and permitted advances of up to Rs 20,000, as stated by the state’s finance minister.
Tripura's finance minister announced on Thursday that the state will raise the annual festival grant by Rs 300 per beneficiary. The decision also authorises an advance payment of up to Rs 20,000 to eligible recipients, aiming to ease cash‑flow constraints during the festive season.
The additional amount is intended to supplement existing support for cultural and religious celebrations across the state, particularly for low‑income families who rely on the grant for essential expenses such as food, clothing and decorations.
State officials said the revised grant will be disbursed through the existing welfare channels, with the advance to be provided on a first‑come, first‑served basis after verification of eligibility. Applications are expected to be processed within the next two weeks.
