Chief Minister of Tripura accused the former CPIM government of neglecting the state's education sector throughout its 35‑year rule.

The Chief Minister of Tripura publicly claimed that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) failed to give adequate attention to education during its three-and-a-half decades in power. In a statement reported by the Tripura Chronicle, the CM said that schools, colleges and vocational training centres did not receive the necessary resources or policy focus under the CPIM administration.

The leader highlighted that despite the long tenure, key indicators such as school infrastructure, teacher recruitment and student outcomes remained stagnant. He urged the current government to prioritize educational reforms and invest in modern facilities to bridge the gaps left by the previous regime.

While no specific data were cited, the CM's remarks are expected to shape the upcoming political discourse in the state, with opposition parties likely to respond to the criticism ahead of future elections.
