Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Resigns from Rajya Sabha

Tripura’s chief minister, Dr Manik Saha, has formally tendered his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of India’s Parliament. The resignation was submitted to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, marking the end of his term as a member of the federal legislature. Saha, who has been serving simultaneously as the state’s chief minister and a Rajya Sabha MP, said he will concentrate solely on his responsibilities in the state government. The vacancy will now be filled through a by‑poll or nomination process as prescribed by parliamentary rules. Party officials have not yet announced a successor, but the seat is expected to be filled in line with internal procedures.
