A tractor fitted with a water‑carrying trolley slipped off a bridge over the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday when its steering mechanism failed. The vehicle, used by local water carriers to fetch river water, plunged into the river below, prompting an immediate rescue effort.
The accident claimed the life of 42‑year‑old Rajendra Patidar, son of Narayan Patidar, who was on the trolley at the time. Emergency services reported that around twenty other kavadi carriers sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to fractures and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
