The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) announced it will contest Tripura’s municipal polls in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party under the National Democratic Alliance banner.
The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has confirmed its participation in the upcoming civic elections in Tripura as part of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The partnership places TMP under the broader National Democratic Alliance (NDA) umbrella for the municipal polls.
By joining forces with the BJP, TMP aims to consolidate anti-incumbency sentiment and expand its influence beyond the state assembly arena into local bodies such as municipal corporations and town councils. The alliance also signals a strategic move by the NDA to strengthen its foothold in Tripura’s urban constituencies.
Political analysts note that the TMP‑BJP tie‑up could reshape the dynamics of Tripura’s local governance, where regional parties have traditionally held sway. The upcoming civic polls will be closely watched for indications of how the coalition’s combined vote share measures against rival parties.
