Long‑time Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra hinted he may quit politics after a 30‑year career, calling the party a ‘haven for anti‑socials’.
Madan Mitra, a senior figure in West Bengal's Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a veteran of state politics for three decades, publicly suggested he could step away from active politics. In recent remarks, he described the party as a “haven for anti‑socials,” indicating deep dissatisfaction.
Mitri’s comments come after a series of internal disagreements that have seen him labeled a rebel within the TMC ranks. While he has not formally announced a resignation, his statement signals a possible departure from a career that began in the early 1990s.
Political analysts note that Mitra’s exit, if it materialises, could reshape factional dynamics in the party ahead of upcoming electoral contests in West Bengal. The TMC has not responded officially to his remarks.
