Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien ignored a court summons linked to a scuffle on Camac Street in Kolkata and has been issued a fresh notice.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Derek O’Brien did not attend the court hearing after being served a summons in connection with a physical altercation that took place on Camac Street, Kolkata. The incident, which involved a clash between unidentified individuals, led police to file a case and seek O’Brien’s testimony as a witness.

According to court records, O’Brien was initially summoned last week but failed to appear, prompting the magistrate to issue a second notice. Legal experts note that repeated non‑compliance could result in contempt proceedings or a warrant for his arrest.

The TMC office has not issued a comment on the MP’s absence, while Kolkata police confirmed that the case remains under investigation and that the summons will be served again to ensure his cooperation.

The development adds to a series of legal challenges faced by several political figures in West Bengal, underscoring the heightened scrutiny of public officials in ongoing law‑enforcement actions.
