The India Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for eastern Rajasthan on 20 October, with no further alerts expected from 21 to 26 October.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather alert for the eastern districts of Rajasthan on 20 October, warning of thunderstorms, frequent lightning and strong gusty winds. The advisory specifically targets areas that are prone to sudden squalls during the pre‑monsoon transition.

Meteorologists anticipate that the storm activity will be confined to the afternoon and early evening hours, with wind speeds potentially reaching 40‑50 km/h. Residents are advised to secure loose objects, avoid outdoor gatherings and stay away from open fields during the peak of the disturbance.

The IMD has also indicated that the alert will be lifted after three days, and from 21 to 26 October the department does not expect any further weather warnings for the state. This short‑term calm is expected to give relief to farmers and commuters who have been monitoring the forecast closely.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, follow updates on official channels and report any incidents of lightning strikes or property damage to local disaster management teams.
